When creating a template, mandatory fields are not marked. Its a minor issue, as creating templates is no daily job.
I think that this is a bug and that “required” fields are not supposed to be required when making templates.

This was indeed a bug - the desired behaviour for templates is that required fields should not be enforced, as it should be possible to create a partially filled template.
We just deployed a fix for this that resolves your issue.
