We got this when trying to host the PDF and pull a public viewable link from DropBox, Google Drive, imgbb, adding the asset in Tape as a file attachment and getting the link from there. Nothing has worked yet.
Then we started exploring other weblinks to embed such as links to YouTube videos and we are getting the same “xyz service refused to connect”
Am I missing something? Or are others having a problem getting new embed links to work?
thanks a lot for your report
We’ve already analyzed the issue. It’s not exactly a bug, but rather that some provider links need to be post-processed before they can be embedded, otherwise the provider refuses the connection, as you’re seeing with Dropbox.
For YouTube we’ve already built this processing. In most cases, if you use the direct browser link, it works fine, though there are also some special variations that can cause the same issue.
Could you please share a sample link with me (just a non-important document) — one from Dropbox and maybe one from Google Drive that you’d like to embed? Then we can take a closer look at those specific links and integrate the necessary post-processing so that it works. This usually doesn’t take much effort, since we already have the logic in place for YouTube.
Thanks again for your feedback, and wishing you a great day!
