Number format without having to resort to calculation fields

It would be great to choose a default for the number field format in settings ==> thousands separator / decimal separator. Number of decimal places etc

In my case, the thousand separator ‘,’ looks very strange to the Swiss.

I realise that I could get what I want using a calculatiton field, but that just creates so much more work.

As far as I know you can set default number format.
Just click your profile on the right top, preferences and under languages and format select your preferred decimal symbol. Then when using number fields in app you just select how many decimal’s you need :slightly_smiling_face:

Sounds good, thanks. I’m new to the Tape, so please forgive my ignorance.
I will check out now.

It doesn’t include the number formatting for the thousands separator though - just the decimal place symbol.

Hi @RichardHedger,

At the moment, the thousands separator symbol is determined by the decimal symbol selected in the user’s personal settings. This approach allows people from different language regions working in the same number field to see values in a format they’re familiar with.

Within the number field settings, you can currently choose whether or not a thousands separator is shown, but not the specific symbol itself.

If you choose comma as your decimal symbol, a dot is used as the thousands separator. If you choose dot as your decimal symbol, a comma will be used for grouping thousands. This covers many common numbering conventions, though of course not all.

Out of curiosity, what’s the most widely used number format in Switzerland? We’re always keen to better support regional preferences where possible.

Best regards,
Leo

This is the standard : CHF 1’000’000.00
