Tape now lets you choose from six permission levels when sharing access:
Full access
Can share
Can edit
Can comment
Can view
No access
The best part? You can use all these permissions across workspaces, apps, and records.
The new permission levels make it easier than ever to follow the Principle of Least Privilege, allowing you to provide each person with only the access they need to do their work. Keeping this principle in mind is always a good approach to managing permissions.
And weβre happy to announce that all these options are included in every Tape plan. We hope the new permission levels makes collaborating with your team even better!
I am very happy to see we have significant improvements happening all the time here in Tape!
I would suggest in terms of Permission Levelsβs evolution, a simple insight I had when dealing with situations on the other tool I was working: it would be awesome if we could set an user all those levels for 3 member related situations:
records created by the member;
records which in a member field that member is set;
All the itens.
This would allow us to have a full management of records in a single app, but separating access according to member fields for operational members, while allowing managers to see all data.
Let me know if Tape already has something like that!
I trullly appreciate your work guys, keep on the energy!
I agree with @toni β¦ that opens up a number of new possible applications. I could then use just one app e.g. with sick days, holidays and people would see only their records while I see all of them.
Although we have not yet rolled out a graphical share action, we have already released parts of the associated API endpoint. The script action in the automations can therefore be used to react to any change in a record, such as the adding of a user in the member field, and then share the record with the desired permission level.
We will also release a feature before the holidays so that you can simply view individually shared records in an app with filters and private views and not in the sidebar without having to have shared the app itself.
