We discovered today that in a private chat, it is possible to @mention other users who are not in the current chat thread. The tagged mention shows up as a drop down member selection choice, and appears blue, yet that member never gets added to the chat thread or alerted that they were mentioned in a chat.
It can be confusing to a user who isn’t well oriented and thinks they asked a question of someone, but it was never actually sent to or seen by that person.
