I set the automation to silent but still it shows up in activity

thanks for the report! This is indeed the expected behavior. The Silent option in the automations ensures that no notifications are generated for changes to the action for which it is switched on, but the changes remain visible in the activities.
If there are a lot of changes in the activities, you can also display only the comments in the activities.
