Sorry for a lot of questions. Getting used to the platform.
When do I actually have to upgrade? As you can see in the screenshot, I am past 500 activity-free limit. But everything works. What happens when 500 limit is passed?
Also what is an action in an automation. Is it a full run or is it a single block in a run?
We don’t strictly enforce the limit the moment it’s reached. Instead, we first try to get in touch with the users and ask whether they’d like to extend their free version – for example, if they need more time for testing. If there’s no response, the workspace will simply no longer be able to create new records.
Additionally, this limit is never enforced for any of our Tape partners, since these Organizations are often used to prepare solutions on behalf of their clients and showcase them in advance.
Once the client starts actively working in the Organization and using it productively, a proper checkout is of course required.
As for automation usage: actions are counted per action block in an automation. But no worries – so far, only very few enterprise customers have ever exceeded the 5 million actions limit.
Had a client handover. They are going live. They were not able to guage between $7.5 plan vs $19 plan and what happens if the threshold exceeds while in production.
Will they get an email saying the threshold is reached before or once it is through?
Once a Tape user is a client of one of our partners, we always communicate directly with the partner, not the client.
We will also never enforce any limits without checking in with you first, as this could confuse or unsettle the client.
For that reason, the activity and action limits are not enforced at this stage, since it’s your client and we’ll always talk to you first.
We don’t send automated emails when approaching or exceeding the action limit. However, you can track the current usage at any time in the Automation Center under the Home tab.
As a general rule: if your client plans to use automations actively, we recommend the Premium plan. The Plus plan includes 250 actions, which is mainly there so users can try out the automation feature, but it’s not really enough for meaningful use in production.
If your client decides to stay on the Plus plan and hits the limit, we’ll reach out to you first before doing anything else.
