This is a big one.
Tabs change how you build and use records in Tape. Turn long records into focused sections and move between them with one click.
Some records start with only a few fields. Over time, they grow into detailed records with customer information, tasks, contacts, invoices, files, notes, and more.
Columns already help organize blocks side by side and make better use of the available space. Tabs add another level of structure.
With the new Tab block, a record no longer has to be one long list of fields and blocks. Divide it into focused sections and switch between them without losing context.
Everything works as usual inside a tab. Add new fields and blocks or move existing ones inside. Each tab can contain fields, headings, text, dividers, columns, images, and any other available block.
What you can build in records
One record can bring an entire process together:
- Customer
Overview·Contacts·Deals·Projects·Invoices·Support - Project
Overview·Tasks·Timeline·Files·Budget - Support ticket
Overview·Customer·Conversation·Internal notes·Resolution - Product launch
Overview·Product·Design·Marketing·Sales·Support
The record stays compact. The context stays together. Each team can open the section most relevant to its work without scrolling through everything else.
You can also use Tab blocks in dashboards and forms. Organize dashboard content by team or topic, or divide a long form into clear sections.
Customize your tabs
For each tab:
- Rename
Change the tab name. - Choose an icon
Add an icon or emoji, or upload a custom icon. Icons are available in different colors. - Choose what appears
Show text and an icon, text only, or an icon only. - Reorder tabs
Drag tabs left or right to change their order.
For the entire Tab block:
- Change the color
Choose a text color or add a background color. - Choose a border
Use no border, a light border, or a solid border.
Use Rules with tabs
Use Rules to show or hide the entire Tab block or individual tabs based on conditions such as field values, the current user, the record state, or the device.
For example, show an Admin tab only to workspace admins or display a Resolution tab when the Status field is set to Closed.

We’ve been using tabs across our own Tape organization during testing. They’ve made complex records easier to navigate, removed many workarounds, and made them much more enjoyable to work with. We hope tabs make the same difference for you.
Happy building.
