πŸ†• Text styling across the new record experience, dashboards and forms

Text in Tape is now more flexible.
You can now style text in the new record experience, dashboards and in forms.

Works on:

  • Headings
  • Text blocks
  • Top and bottom descriptions on every field
  • Captions on embed and image blocks
  • Captions on reports and charts

Select any text to open the styling menu:

  • Format
    • Bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, and inline code.
  • Text and block colors
    • Apply text or background color to selected text, from a single letter to a full sentence, or to the entire block at once.
  • Link
    • Paste a URL or search to link directly to an app or record.
  • Alignment
    • Left, center, or right.

All the usual shortcuts work, including cmd/ctrl + B for bold and cmd/ctrl + shift + S for strikethrough. We’ve also added a few more:

  • cmd/ctrl + K to add a link
  • cmd/ctrl + E to mark text as code
  • cmd/ctrl + shift + H for text color

Hover over any button in the styling menu to see its keyboard shortcut.

A few ways to use it:

  • Forms: add a privacy notice with a link, highlight important instructions, or structure longer forms with section headings.
  • Dashboards: label sections with formatted headings, add quick context in top descriptions, or add links to related apps and records.
  • New record experience: turn long descriptions into structured docs with headings, links, and colored blocks for notes, warnings, or extra context.

Happy building!

@Leo we’ve had some frustration with inconsistent options across text fields in different apps.
Not sure if I’m just missing something here, or if it’s worth submitting as a bug report for you.

In the new layout, a single-line text field in one app shows a field display β€œsize” option that lets the entered value appear larger, but the same type of field in another app in the same workspace does not expose that option.

Sometimes we can adjust the size for Single Line Text field, but not always.

This video goes into deeper explanation on what we’re seeing:
