๐Ÿ†• General conditions for rules

A rule usually reacts to data in a record, such as a single select, multi select, or status field. But sometimes, what matters is who is viewing the record, whether the record is currently being created or has already been created, and which device is being used.

Three new conditions make this possible. Youโ€™ll find them under General when adding a condition.

:books: How to get started

  1. Open any database app, click โ€ขโ€ขโ€ข in the top-right corner, then select Customize record layout.
  2. Hover over a block and open the โ‹ฎโ‹ฎ menu.
  3. Select Rules.
  4. Under When, add a condition and select Current user, Record state, or Device from General.

:sparkles: Whatโ€™s new

  • Current user Choose specific people, groups, Workspace admins, Workspace members, Guest, or Public link. Show an approval block only to admins or hide an internal note from a specific group.
  • Record state Choose During creation or After creation. For example, hide a block while a new record is being created and show it once the record has been created.
  • Device Choose Desktop or Mobile. Hide a wide block on mobile or show a compact summary designed for smaller screens.

Current user supports Is any of and Is none of. Record state and Device support Is and Is not.

:bulb: Record state extends the existing field display option Show after creation. The display option applies to a single field, while a rule can be used with any block and combined with other conditions.
