:white_check_mark: What stays familiar

  • Number formatting follows user settings
    • Personal user settings are the baseline for all number formatting. Each user can choose their own format: click your profile picture → PreferencesLanguage and formats . Available settings: Decimal symbol and Measurement units. For example, with a comma as decimal symbol, one million displays as 1.000.000,00 instead of 1,000,000.00.
  • Show thousand separator
    • Toggle the thousand separator on or off.
  • Decimal places
    • Up to 8 decimal places, based on the selected format.
  • Display options
    • Required field
    • Hidden if empty
    • Always hidden
  • Help text is still available. It’s now called “Tooltip”

:sparkles: What’s new

  • Field settings:
    • Size: choose from 5 sizes, from Small to Extra extra large.
    • Wrap text: turn text wrapping on or off
  • Format: choose how your number is displayed:
    • Number: plain value with optional separators (e.g., 1,250 )
    • Percent: value shown as a percentage (e.g., 85% )
    • Currency: value with currency format (e.g., 1,250.00 )
    • Compact: large values shortened (e.g., 1M instead of 1,000,000 )
  • Unit as a prefix, suffix, or both
    • Add a custom unit before the number, after the number, or on both sides at the same time. For example, combine “$” as a prefix with “/hour” as a suffix to display hourly rates like $25 per hour.
  • Allow negative values
    • On by default. Disable when a value below zero doesn’t make sense, like quantities in stock.
  • Default value
    • Pre-fill new records with a fixed number. Useful for fields that almost always start at the same value, like a default quantity of 1 or a starting score of 0 .
  • Display options
    • Use the new “View only” option to make sure nobody can change the number field value.
  • Style settings
    • Label display and size, placeholder, tooltip, field icon, and more. The full style system is available for the number field.
  • Top and bottom description
    • Add helper text above or below the field: instructions, units, context, or hints for people filling out a form.
  • Rearranging number fields
*. Use the ⋮⋮ handle next to the field label to drag and drop number fields. Reorder them, move them around the record, or place them into different columns.

Premium plan features:

  • Color and Dynamic color
    • Assign a fixed color to the field, or define conditional colors based on value thresholds. Great for budget tracking (green = within budget, red = over) or flagging critical values. Works in views as well. Learn more ➔
  • Field access
    • Restrict who can view or edit the number field.
  • Rules
    • Show or hide number fields based on other field values.

Prices, quantities, scores, budgets. It all comes down to numbers. We hope the new number field gives you more flexibility in Tape. We already use “Dynamic color” ourselves and love seeing right away how values are performing, just from the colors. It’s one of those settings that made a real difference once we tried it in a real use case.

If you want to get a head start, just duplicate the :point_right: template workspace.

Thanks for being part of the journey.
Happy building.
