🟢 Possibility to mobile

Guys, you make a geat job!

I work LOT on wheels and at my customers.
I use Tape quite much now with mobile with “show desktop”-option.

That works quite good, but that is not optimal way to use Tape.

Is it possible to have Tape more mobile friendly to use?

Hi Sami,

thank you very much for your great feedback and thank you for your support.
You are absolutely right! We definitely need to optimize the mobile use of Tape.
Unfortunately we had to keep postponing the enhancement and optimization of the mobile app in the roadmap, because we mainly had to build other features for our customers first to solve their use cases.
Now that we are completely rebuilding the record and the field template, we have to postpone the app again because the app will change a lot and we would have to dump everything we would build now.
However, we have always made sure that Tape is very easy to use on an iPad. Would that be a possibility for you?
With the new record we will fully consider the repsonsiveness for small screens from the beginning until we take the mobile app to the next level!

Cheers
Leo

Sounds excellent plan!

I agree, you need to go foward with most important usecases.

Haven a great summer!

Firstly, welcome to the community. I’m sure you’re going to enjoy being here. Everyone is extremely helpful.

Secondly, You can’t quote me but I’m pretty sure this is where Tape is in the process of building out the app.

:white_check_mark: Almost finished building out dashboard features
:white_large_square: Need to redevelop the record fields to accommodate new features like conditional logic, web forms, …
:white_large_square: Redesign the phone app

Again, you can’t quote me on anything. This is just my presumption from seeing other conversations and looking at the public road map.

For what it’s worth, we used JotForm as a band-aid so we can create records from our phones while my team is out in the field.

Oh, thank you so much! I will look into JotForm. How do you integrate Jotform? Why not the integrated Webforms?

Hi @Aurelio and welcome,

Tape does not currently have integrated Webforms at the moment as @1F2Ns says don’t quote me but my guess is they will arrive slightly before the new mobile solution. However, you can incorporate any number of webform providers with Tape so easily it shouldn’t slow you down. Fillout is my favourite with Tally.so being a close second but as mentioned JotForm works as does Google Forms the only forms provider I can think of that doesn’t work easily with Tape is Microsoft forms.

As for how you integrate the forms you just send the data into a Webhook automation:

I am fairly sure there is a numb er of guides on here that show how but I will check later and post one if I can’t find one.

You can also use things like Apple Shortcuts to quickly get data into Tape while on the go. One of the advantages of using forms over something like shortcuts is that you can use prefill URLs to display information from tape on the form.

The other thing I have done is use the built-in Display a message on a web page which can then be built to display useful data and links to pre-filled forms.

So there are lots of work rounds to ease the pain of the current Tape mobile apps but yes unfortunately at the current time, they do just ease the pain rather than solve it.
