🆕 Trigger · When a comment is added · Workflow Automation

Today we’re super excited to announce that the trigger…
:sparkles: Comment is added :sparkles:
…is now part of our supercharged workflow automations :zap:

Overview

The trigger “When a comment is added” will allow you to run an automation whenever a comment is added in a specific app.

A simple use case

“When a comment is added (Trigger) and if the comment contains “pdf” (Filter) then create a pdf and save the pdf to the record (Action).”

Create automation using the trigger “When a comment is added”

  • First automation block - Trigger - the “When this happens” automation statement

    • Choose the trigger When a comment is added
    • Set the trigger by selecting the app where the automation should be triggered
  • Second automation block - Filter - the “And if conditions are met” automation statement

    • Set your filter to start actions only if certain conditions are met:
      • A field to be evaluated, at the first dropdown menu
      • An operator at the second dropdown menu, i.e., Contains, Does not contain, Is not, etc.
      • A field value - enter the field value for the selected field from the first dropdown. Note that the operators e.g. “is empty” and “is not empty” do not require you to input a field value
  • Third automation block - Action - the “Then do that” automation statement

    • First, click on + Add action and choose between various actions
    • Set up your action based on the action you’ve selected, like Create PDF here in this example. Change the file name and layout, enter variables with the @-menu or build a table, change the text color, and open the fullscreen for much more options.
    • Choose and setup an additional action
    • Click on + Add action and choose between various actions, e.g. Update record
    • Click + Add field - every field type has its own row. Add as many as you like
    • Set up the action condition to update the collected records:
      • A field to be evaluated, at the first dropdown menu
      • An operator at the second dropdown menu depends on the selected field type i.e., Set value, Set options, Set date, Clear, etc.
      • A field value - enter the field value for the selected field from the first dropdown or attach the created PDF file to a file field
  • Click on Create automation at the top right
